Stop Smell From Wet Spray Booth Water

Wet Spray Booth Water Smells? This is how to stop it

There are a number of things that you can do to eliminate the smell that can be produced by the water within your wet spray booth.  Which is the best option is really decided by what maintenance you have for your spray booth water and what, if any, treatments you do.

If you aren't adding anything to your spray booth water, other than paint overspray or another type of coating such as glue or lacquer, and allowing the overspray sludge to build then you should be adding a biocide as an absolute minimum treatment of your booth water.  We recommend adding PROBIO to the booth water which is a professional quality liquid biocide designed to kill bacteria, within industrial water, therefore reducing or eliminating smells thus making the water more pleasant to be around.  The smell that comes from the spray booth water is caused by bacteria that is formed when the overspray, or sludge, starts to be broken down.  This is a totally natural occurrence, and isn't anything that you should be frightened of, but the smell can be rather strong, especially during the warmer periods, and it is always advisable to keep bacteria to a minimum so the addition of Probio will kill bacteria and the smells it creates as well as keeping your spray booth water healthier for everyone who has to work close to it.

Apart from just adding Probio biocide, you also have the option of treating your booth water to allow for the complete removal the sludge on a constant, daily or weekly basis therefore eliminating the build up of sludge completely.  This is a far better option than leaving the waste to accumulate within the the spray booth tank. Removing the overspray is removing the source of the smell and if there is no waste then there is no food for the bacteria. To remove the sludge you will need to use our water treatment products.  Most of these contain a biocide as part of their formulation meaning that a stand alone biocide may not be required. Should this be an option that appeals then we like to work with our customers so that we can advise on the most suited products for your particular spray booth and the coatings that you are using.
